There’s a text box for Speaker Notes below the slide area. The brief notes you type here will help you to elaborate on the points contained in the slide. For instance if you are making a point about trends put some figures and facts on the slide. You may want to add some examples to support these points in the Speaker Notes area.

In May a build of ffice Web Apps leaked to the Web along with the rest of the ffice 2010 Tech Preview; Microsoft officials haven’t answered when I asked whether that Web Apps build will be the same as the officially sanctioned one that is now looking like it will go to testers in September. Microsoft brass are positioning the Web Apps as being complementary to ffice not a replacement for the client-based productivity suite. Microsoft officials have said there will be free and paid versions of ffice Web Apps. Consumers will be able to get them for free via Windows Live. Software Assurance customers will have the added option of running the ffice Web Apps on premise accessing their on-premise SharePoint Servers.

An enhanced icon view has been added letting you preview multipage documents and even play QuickTime movies without ever leaving the Finder window. Preview now lets you preview almost any file even if it was created with software you don’t have on your hard drive. This means common file types from Microsoft Excel PowerPoint and even PDF files can all be previewed without owning the programs they were created in. As an added bonus Preview in Snow Leopard provides accurate text selection to multicolumn PDF files using artificial intelligence to infer the layout of each page. This means that Preview recognizes that there are multiple columns in your document so you can select the text you want from any column.

In addition to the inevitable outrage the affair has also prompted its fair share of amusement. Eagle-eyed experts noticed for example that the white laptop in front of the Photoshopped man is actually a Macbook made by Microsoft’s arch rival Apple. Meanwhile the woman to the right of the picture is conducting a Powerpoint presentation – with the help of a computer monitor that has not been plugged into anything at all. Her keyboard cable appears to dangle in thin air. In a tongue-in-cheek defence of Microsoft one blogger suggested that the company was attempting to be all things to all people. "The white head and black hand actually symbolise inter-racial harmony. It is supposed to show that a person can be white and black old and young at the same time.
