” This group is being asked to test-drive the “streaming” of certain ffice 2010 desktop applications (Word Excel PowerPoint utlook and neNote) onto their computers. “Click-to-Run is a new mechanism for delivering rich client software over the Internet and will be used to greatly improve the ffice trial-delivery experience via our Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) infrastructure” a Microsoft spokesperson told Ars. “Click-to-Run utilizes core Microsoft streaming and virtualization technology as well as new ffice innovation to significantly reduce the time required for users to download and begin experiencing the exciting new features of ffice 2010. At this time only ffice Home and Student 2010 and ffice Home and Business 2010 will be available via Click-to-Run. The technology definitely sounds interesting but the question is whether it will work as planned.
