In this case the Mac version is not yet ready but Microsoft decided to go ahead with the Windows version since the actual attacks going on in the wild are all Windows-specific. The Mac version will follow when ready presumably. The second point is that Microsoft has removed support for “the very old PowerPoint 4 converter (PP4X322. DLL)” with the release of this update. This program and the formats it supports are more trouble than they’re worth it would seem and it’s years since they have been the default format on any supported version of PowerPoint. They provide a registry hack you can apply to re-enable PowerPoint 4 support in current products but they advise that you unapply the hack afterwards. Finally file converter support in ffice 2000 and ffice XP has been upgraded by back-porting the latest code from ffice 2003 into it.

While the use of the new file types is pretty straightforward ? simply upload the file as normal and Google’s conversion engine will figure out the format and get the file working ? integration with Google’s Gmail web-mail service is still missing although should be added soon. Existing integration for other file types support by Google Docs allows the files to be imported directly from Gmail. Sadly for presentation mavens support for the. pptx file format used by Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 is still missing: the only way to get these files into Google Docs is to save as the older PowerPoint 2003. ppt format possibly losing some formatting information along the way. The celebration started with presentations from a number of partnerships highlighting the variety of TLI staff-student partnerships. For their Computing 2 partnership Ashley Mallon ?10 and Public Safety fficer Cat Tavares met at midnight before Tavares started her overnight shift. ?We decided it would be a lot easier than me getting up early? said Mallon who helped Tavares learn how to use Microsoft Powerpoint. Public Safety fficer Phil Mairs and Sandra Gandarez ?10 overcame competing sports-team allegiances?Mairs is a diehard Phillies fan while Gandarez a native of Northern New Jersey roots for the Mets?to put together a Powerpoint presentation of a ?day in the life? of a Bryn Mawr public safety officer. During the Empowering Learners Partnership presentation Paul Dolhancryk Tom Millward and Mark Watson of Facilities Services talked about how they taught a group of students the basics of home repair and campus physical-plant oversight.
