As a result the language of computing in both education and business is denominated in Microsoftese. Word Excel Powerpoint– these are the tools of everyday productivity and on a college campus most of us rarely go a day without using at least one of these products. And while the University of North Dakota does provide these programs for enrolled students via computer labs around campus we’re still paying for the privilege as part of student fees and program fees. When factoring in the additional home versions that most students need for at-home work the end result is the requirement to pay twice for the same set of tools in order to complete necessary assignments for class.
