A Russian site wzor. net put up a bunch of screenshots of the individual products that make up the suite as well as an about page and start menu that seem to show a whole lot of ffice 14 products are on the way. According to one screenshot (seen above) we can expect Access Excel Groove InfoPath InterConnect neNote utlook PowerPoint Project Publisher SharePoint Designer Vizio and Word. There’s also a reference on one shot to the product being ffice 14 “Mondo. ” The UXEvangelist blog.

Finally there’s Keynote Apple’s answer to PowerPoint with a real winner of an improvement in the form of an iPhone app. A 99¢ download turns an iPhone or iPod Touch into a remote for controlling a PowerPoint-type presentation. The genius of this is that you can read your speaker’s notes right on the phone’s display—a feat that’s so difficult when running PowerPoint on a laptop that many users still resort to printing out their notes. Apple may make most of its money on hardware but it’s software features such as these that explain the steady rise in Mac’s market share. There’s nothing like these programs in the Windows world and that’s a pity.

We still don’t know much about the upcoming upgrade which should ship either late this year or sometime in 2010 other than that it will be accompanied by Microsoft’s first full-blown Web-based versions of Word Excel PowerPoint and neNote. h and Mary Jo says there will be a new version of the suite: ffice for Sales. ffice 14 will be the first update to the suite since the radical interface makeover it got for ffice 2007; I’ll be intrigued to see whether Microsoft leaves the new look and feel pretty much as is or reworks it further. It’s certainly got both huge fans and recalcitrant naysayers….

In order to view (and create) PowerPoint files on a Mac your best bet is to buy the Macintosh version of Microsoft ffice which includes PowerPoint itself. There are other methods as well. For instance Apple’s own lower-priced iWork suite can also open PowerPoint files and create files in the PowerPoint format. And some Web-based office programs like Google Docs allow you to view PowerPoint files on Macs.
