Chief Executive fficer of Microsoft Steve Ballmer and Tom Brokaw of the NBC Nightly News addressed a capacity crowd estimated at nearly 7000 attendees at the Partner Pavilion with an unknown number of people included in an overflow crowd. The Los Angeles event was the kickoff of over 200 worldwide events celebrating the launch of Windows Server 2008 Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008. In addition to the keynote address the launch event featured Breakout Sessions Hands n Labs Microsoft and Partner Pavilions Chalk Talks and Ask the Experts. Attendees experienced an overall presentation that included 3 dimensional powerpoint slides 6 or more video cameras wall projections along with a steady cam throughout the event. Although we had to make our excuses and leave early to do our other chattingsin ld London Town we were given two things in a big Microsoft plastic bagbefore we became the dear departed. ne was a toy helicopter and the other was an unlocked version of VisualStudio 2008. Naturally we tried to combine the two in an unlikely shot ? the unlikely shotbeing the Flying Vole flying over Visual Studio 2008. Apologies for the blurring ? our camera is obviously not sharp enough tocapture the front fields and the back all at once!
