(NYSE:FDS) a leading provider of integrated financial information and analytical applications to the global investment community today announced that it has acquired DealMaven Inc. Formed in 1999 by former investment bankers DealMaven provides tools to improve the workflow of investment bankers when working in Microsoft ffice(r). DealMaven’s add-ins for Microsoft Excel(r) PowerPoint(r) and Word(r) help firms gather analyze check and present data more efficiently. DealMaven’s financial analysis training program has been employed by several bulge bracket investment banks. DealMaven is headquartered in New York City and currently has annual subscriptions of $3. 2 million and is supported by 17 employees. The purchase price of $14 million was paid out of available cash.

The screen is touch-sensitive so you can use a stylus to navigate or your fingertips to dial a phone number. With the keyboard extended the phone becomes a tiny computer. Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition software provides mobile versions of Microsoft ffice applications including Word Excel and PowerPoint plus a reader for PDF files and and a Notepad that captures text from the keyboard or your handwritten scribbles. Internet Explorer and the 2. 8-inch screen do a fine job of displaying full Web sites – not just those designed for mobine devices – and you can get online using a built-in WiFi receiver to speed up access and reduce time spent on Verizon’s network. The phone has a fun side too. There’s a 2-megapixel camera a slot for a microSD memory card and Bluetooth support for stereo headphones and video messaging.

n the software side the Windows Mobile 6 S comes with a couple of enhancements including push e-mail support (messages automatically download in the background as opposed to your manually retrieving them) and a slightly better Internet Explorer browser. It’s worth noting that instead of the Picsel Viewer app used in the original BlackJack for viewing and editing ffice documents the BlackJack II runs. Though Picsel Viewer and ffice Mobile work similarly I miss the pan-and-zoom capability that the Picsel software offers. Call quality on the BlackJack II was just as good as on the older model thanks in part to its 3G antenna.
