Still that is a catch-up game and unlike penffice ffice 2007 was not peer-reviewed. Although Microsoft’s pen XML has achieved vendor-based ECMA approval it has yet to become an IS standard. Moreover pen XML has 6000 pages of specifications compared to about a tenth that for penffice which has been evolving over 20 years. Then there is the issue of the depth of XML definitions in each.
