But Microsoft seems to have missed the memo. With a few exceptions if you want Microsoft software you have to pull out your wallet. Theffice Live sitewould seem to be a great place for Microsoft to offer limited versions of Word Excel and Powerpoint to compete with Google’s Docs and Spreadsheets. Instead it houses a group of tools that have nothing to do with the productivity suite that the site named for. Like a painfully clueless kid in high school Microsoft seems to have been born bereft of the cool gene. The company launches the Zune its supposed iPod-killer and the best it can come up with for a slogan is "Welcome to the social?" Was every box supposed to come with a scoop of ice cream or something?Even when Microsoft produces an undeniably cool product like the Xbox it can’t quite get past its own reputation as a stuffy big company. Woops did we say "cool" and "Xbox" in the same sentence? Must be one of those repaired models with thenew heat sinksthat work.
