Details are on the race website. The last of a series of pre-race seminars will be Wednesday night at Dana Point Yacht Club and April 5 at Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club. The complete agenda also is covered in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on the race website. Current entries include Doug Baker’s Magnitude 80 and Jim Madden’s Stark Raving Mad III each first to finish in recent races to Mexico. Baker’s Andrews 80 from Long Beach smashed the 22-year-old record for Del Rey YC’s race to Puerto Vallarta by 31 hours. In the current version when a Word document is being worked on collaboratively changes are tracked in real time and each change is marked with the name of the user who made the change. This update tracking capability doesn’t appear to carry over to other apps like Excel and Powerpoint. However the program also uses what Microsoft calls “personal mouse pointers” to see how others are using their mouse during the session. Along with ffice documents the Tahiti taskbar lets people share any application on their desktops.

Report this post reply by: cgshirley on May 18 2007 MS abandons support of old file formats – latest is powerpoint 95 in office 2007. Microsoft Vista backup won’t save. exe files – there is no way around it (not so for XP). Microsoft phone help is utterly incompetent – you explain the problem to THEM and you pay THEM. Superficially it seems like you can get a reasonable cost version of Vista but actually they have distributed features among versions so that you have to buy an expensive version.

The group claims that with upgrades to its word processor spreadsheet presentation and database software the free office suite provides a real alternative to Microsoft’s recently-released ffice 2007 product. Current users of older versions of Microsoft ffice will find penffice 2. 2 to be an easier upgrade path than ffice 2007 the group suggests. 2 should appear better to users thanks to its support for kerning a technique that improves the appearance of text written in proportional fonts; kerning is now enabled by default. penffice’s PDF (Portable Document Format) export function has also been enhanced with the addition of the optional creation of bookmarks feature and with support for user-definable export of form fields… Apple Mac users will notice a smaller download and a smaller installed size.
